White House Issues Statement Opposing Uganda Anti-Gay Bill

Intrepid lesbian reporter Kerry Eleveld finally got someone from the Obama Administration to go on record in response to the pending draconian Uganda anti-homosexuality legislation which, as currently written, could lead to the death penalty for openly gay people.
The President strongly opposes efforts, such as the draft law pending in Uganda, that would criminalize homosexuality and move against the tide of history,” read the White House statement that came late Friday in response to an inquiry from The Advocate.
Bloggers such as Joe Jervis, Pam Spaulding and Bill Burroway have been doing excellent work keeping the Uganda legislation in the top tier of issues in the LGBT blogosphere.
